House projects

It’s been a while since I’ve written about projects around the house; so I thought I’d share.

I have all the stuff needed for the “remodel” if you will for the main floor powder bathroom. I was going to paint it, but I think the neutral beige color is just fine. It’s just a matter of having the vanity / mirror / lights replaced. I might potentially add one or two floating shelves behind the toilet for a little decor.

I will need help installing all of this, so I’m not sure when that will come.

The laundry room — currently the washer + dryer is on pedestals and there is a white wire closest type shelf above it — which is hard to reach. Initially I wanted to stack the washer and dryer but the model I have is not suggested to do so. It can be done, but I feel like I need to err on the side of caution.

Back to the original plan that is to remove them from the pedestals, add a butcher block type shelf right above them [front loaders] and then add some cabinets above in either corner and a shelf or two between them. I really need to measure this weekend, and see just how much space I would have if I put them together and if I could have a small space to stash a drying rack or something?

This looks sharp with the shelves under the cabinets — I have tall ceilings so this could work! Also like the little space to the left for a sink [I do not have a need for a sink] but depending on how much room I have it would be nice to have maybe a trash can in there — a larger one, the smaller one is too easy for Moxie to get into.
I would have a wood shelf over top the washer + dyer but I like the shelf between the cabinets!
I actually kind of like the look of the cabinets on one side and maybe shelves on the other. I think this family kept it open for hanging shirts but that’s not needed for me.

I will likely have some sort of a rug in there and I would love to have food and water up there for Moxie, for the time being as she doesn’t know how to go down the stairs and I want her to be able to eat and drink if need be. Soon I won’t have to sleep with my door shut.

I did find some butcher block that I like; that’s $110 for 12 feet! I’m hopeful that if there isn’t more than one outlet for just the washer and dryer to plug in, that it would be pretty simple to wire another so I could plug in say an iron or Sentsy warmer in there!

Now it’s just a matter of getting it done. We have a friend of the family who is a handyman, and I’m hoping that the laundry room is done first, before the main bathroom.
