TV Documentaries: Being down and out with ear infection and laying low, I’ve made my way through all my shows on my DVR, and found some documentaries on Hulu. I watched the Laci Peterson documentary on A&E. I recall this happening, but I was a sophomore in college so clearly news wasn’t the highest priority at the time. I just finished the Casey Anthony one. I feel like I will be finding more…
Ear Infection, Part Two: Monday at work I wasn’t feeling so hot, my ear was really bothering me. On my bus ride from the parking lot into the hospital I asked the nurses on my FB if I should go back to the doctor. A handful said yes. I was telling my boss my symptoms and she said it kind of sounded like a ruptured ear drum. I toughed it out at work, as we were pretty short staffed. I went to UI Quick Care by my place and they told me it would be 1 1/2 – 2 hours before I would be seen, and they would likely be closed. I might be better off going to the ER. So I decided to head back towards Coralville and go to Mercy Urgent Care. I doctor mostly with Mercy, but my copay is cheaper ($5) to go to Quick Care, vs $25 with Urgent Care. I was in, seen and had my meds in about 45 minutes. The verdict, swimmer’s ear, outer ear canal infection. Not connected with my ear infection, neither can be brought on by the other. I’m just… lucky! I got meds, and a referral to ENT. I really liked the doctor I saw and on New Years Day, of all days…. I got a follow up phone call asking how I was feeling! Maybe that extra $20 is worth it!
2019 Year In Books: Every year Goodreads does a reading challenge… I joined Goodreads in 2011. I did not complete the challenges in 2011, 2014, and 2016. I overshot on how many I thought I could read. I usually adjust a bit along the way, but clearly failed those three years. In 2019 I set it at 75 and was ahead of schedule, so I bumped it to 100. I ended the year having read 114.
Planner Peace + Stickers: I know a lot of people struggle to find the right planner; I did that years ago. I’m in my 9th year of the Erin Condren [colorful, vertical, coiled] the OG planner. The only thing I’ve changed is last year I started using the Planner Kate kits that matched the monthly color along with black / grey stickers to fill in and a black or grey pen. This year, I’m doing the same, but even a bit more simplistic. I’m scaling way back on the stickers and extra planner stuff this year.
Schedule: There are a million memes and images floating around about the time between Christmas and New Year’s Day, not knowing the day. I feel it! I felt like yesterday was the 4th Monday in the span of two weeks. I am ready for next week to be Monday and work a full week. I have a handful of medical stuff coming up [more on this later] but I’m just ready for a week to start on a Monday and work the regular days with a majority of the staff here.
