I don’t have a favorite book; I have hundreds.

For as long as I can remember I have loved reading. I read Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret. I read The Babysitters Club, Goosebumps, Choose Your Own Adventure. I read a lot of books! I had quite the collection growing up; and it hasn’t stopped.

When it was Bookfair time at school; that was the best!  I remember fighting with my Mom to stay up and read one more chapter, 10 more pages, one more page. Then sneaking reading, until she finally took the book away. I’m sure it broke her heart to take the book away, but I was, and still am a “kid” who needs her sleep! I spent my birthday and Christmas money at the bookstore, I remember when Walden Books went out of business.

To this day, I still read almost every night before bed. I read on weekends, I read on my lunch break.

I was very much against getting a Kindle or any sort of e-reader; in fact I had my Mom send back the first Kindle she got me. It wasn’t until after working at Barnes & Noble for a short while (it was costing me more money than I was making!) that I decided to get a Nook. I enjoyed it, it was easy and I didn’t have to have a light on to read at night.

I eventually got an iPad2; so I was able to get both Nook and the Kindle app on there. In time I have transitioned over to reading mostly e-books; because I can read on my phone if I leave the iPad at home, or find myself in a never-ending check out line, waiting at the doctor’s office, or anywhere really.

I prefer reading to listening to a book. My favorite authors include Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Donald Harstad, and Jennifer Foor. I enjoy reading about the Amish. I read a lot of Chick Lit. I tend to not read murder mystery, with the exception of Donald Harstad, because I read mostly at night before bed; and I have very vivid dreams.

Through a Facebook connection, I met my  great friend Karan; who I should have met through our music connection at Wildwood. Funny how things work out. We both share a love of the book world; she in the writing/promotion/author end and me in the reading end. That’s not to say she doesn’t love to read!  Through this friendship,  she has let me provide some input on a few books she’s writing, it’s been fun!

When you love to read, it’s like you have this group you belong to; and others who love to read just get you. On that note, I’m signing off to crawl in bed and read. I believe the book I’m reading is a suggestion from Karan!
